Ulas Oleksiyovych Samchuk (1905-1987) was a Ukrainian writer, journalist, and publicist. Samchuk's most outstanding work, the Volyn trilogy, brought worldwide fame to the author. The ideological continuation of "Volyn" is the novel "Fist" (1932). The main character, Lev Boychuk, demonstrates the Ukrainian character, the strength of the human spirit, perseverance in achieving the goal. This book, which combines two outstanding works - the novels "Maria" and "Fist", continues to reveal to the reader the talent of Ulas Samchuk.
