The Shadow of Independence' is the second book in the Galician Saga. It covers the events of 1918-1922, a time that Winston Churchill would later discribe as folows: 'The war of the giants is over, the war of the pygmies has begun.' When the people of Lviv saw the blue and yellow flag at the town hall on the morning of November 1, 1918, they did not yet know that this was only the beginning of a long armed struggle for who should own Galicia.
